Time estimates and deadlines are often quoted in hours — a software project might be scoped at 120 hours, a shift might run 36 hours, or a regulatory limit might be expressed as 2,000 hours per year. Converting these hour totals into days, workdays, and weeks gives the figure human-scale meaning. This calculator handles both calendar time and working time: calendar days divide by 24 (every hour of every day) while workdays divide by your chosen shift length (6, 7, 7.5, 8, 10, or 12 hours) and workweeks assume a standard 5-day week. Both views are useful — calendar time for logistics and SLAs, working time for project planning and labor cost estimation.
How It Works
Calendar days = Total hours ÷ 24. Calendar weeks = Total hours ÷ 168 (24 hours × 7 days). Remaining hours after full days = fractional part of calendar days × 24. Total minutes = Total hours × 60. Workdays = Total hours ÷ workday hours (the selected shift length). Workweeks = Workdays ÷ 5 (a standard 5-day working week). The calendar outputs treat time as continuous — 48 hours is exactly 2 days regardless of whether those hours include nights or weekends. The working-time outputs use your chosen shift length to give a practical labor-time equivalent, helping translate raw hours into a project timeline that accounts for how many hours are worked per day.
