Pace Calculator
Calculate your running or walking pace per kilometre and per mile from a distance and time.
Enter your values and click Calculate
Knowing your pace is essential for race planning, training zone management, and comparing efforts across different distances. Enter the distance you covered in kilometres and your total time in minutes, and this calculator returns your pace per kilometre and per mile in the standard MM:SS format used by running apps, GPS watches, race timing systems, and training plans. It works equally well for running, jogging, and brisk walking. Whether you are aiming for a personal best at an upcoming 5K, building an aerobic base for a marathon, or simply tracking your daily fitness routine, having both the km and mile pace at a glance makes it easy to communicate your performance in any unit system. Consistent pace tracking across weeks and months is one of the clearest indicators of improving cardiovascular fitness, allowing you to see progression that daily fatigue and subjective effort can sometimes obscure. Use your average pace from each training run to set realistic target paces for your next race.
How It Works
The calculator first converts your total time from minutes to seconds. It then divides total seconds by your distance in kilometres to get the pace per kilometre. For the per-mile figure, the kilometre distance is converted to miles using the internationally defined factor of 0.621371 km per mile, and the same total seconds are divided by that mile value. Both results are formatted as MM:SS per unit, matching the standard display used by running watches, apps, and race results. Enter any decimal minute value — for example, 65.5 for one hour, five minutes, and thirty seconds. Times for long runs can simply be entered as total minutes: a 2-hour 15-minute run is 135 minutes.
