The tip calculator applies three sequential formulas to produce all four outputs. First, the tip amount is calculated by multiplying the bill total by the tip percentage expressed as a decimal: Tip Amount = Bill Amount × (Tip Percentage ÷ 100). For a $65 bill at 20%, this gives $65 × 0.20 = $13.00. Second, the total bill including gratuity is found by adding the tip to the original: Total = Bill Amount + Tip Amount, giving $65 + $13 = $78.00. Third, the per-person share is derived by dividing the total by the number of people: Per Person = Total ÷ Number of People. For a party of two, $78 ÷ 2 = $39.00 per person. The tip per person is broken out separately using: Tip Per Person = Tip Amount ÷ Number of People. This detail is useful when the table splits payment across multiple cards — the server may need to know the exact tip per card.
