Bitcoin mining profitability depends on four key variables: your miner's hash rate, its power consumption, your local electricity cost, and the current Bitcoin price. This calculator estimates how much Bitcoin your hardware can mine per day relative to the entire network, then subtracts your electricity costs to show your net daily, monthly, and annual profit. Mining profitability shifts constantly as Bitcoin's price fluctuates, more miners join the network increasing difficulty, and electricity rates change. Understanding these dynamics before investing in hardware is essential — a miner that is profitable at $0.05 per kWh may run at a loss at $0.15 per kWh with no price increase. This tool helps prospective miners evaluate whether their specific hardware and electricity situation pencils out, and helps existing miners track whether their operation remains profitable as market conditions evolve. The calculator uses an approximate network hash rate to estimate your share of block rewards; actual results will vary with real-time network difficulty.
How It Works
Daily BTC mined is estimated using the formula: dailyBTC = (yourHashRate ÷ networkHashRate) × blockReward × blocksPerDay. The network hash rate is approximated at 600 EH/s (600 × 10^18 hashes per second), the block reward at 3.125 BTC (post-2024 halving), and blocks per day at 144 (one every ~10 minutes). Your hash rate in TH/s is divided by the network total to get your fractional share of all mined blocks. Daily revenue equals dailyBTC × Bitcoin price. Daily electricity cost equals (powerWatts ÷ 1000) × 24 × costPerKwh. Daily profit is revenue minus electricity cost. Monthly and annual profits are extrapolations at 30 and 365 days respectively. Note: the calculator does not account for pool fees (typically 1–2%), hardware depreciation, cooling costs, or network difficulty changes, which in practice all reduce real-world profitability.
