Pace Per KM Calculator
Calculate your running or walking pace per kilometre from distance and time.
Enter your values and click Calculate
Pace per kilometre is the primary performance metric for runners in countries that use the metric system. Enter the distance you covered and your total time in minutes, and this calculator returns your pace per kilometre in MM:SS format along with the equivalent pace per mile and your average speed in km/h. These three values together give you a complete picture of your run, matching the outputs shown in most running apps and race result sheets. Whether you are training for a 5K, 10K, half marathon, or full marathon, tracking pace per km helps you run at the correct intensity for each workout — easy, tempo, or race pace — and makes it simple to compare performances across different distances and training sessions. Logging your pace per km after each run over several weeks reveals your aerobic development clearly, showing whether your easy-day effort is producing a faster pace at the same heart rate — one of the key signs of improving running economy and cardiovascular conditioning.
How It Works
The calculator converts your time from minutes to seconds, then divides total seconds by the distance in kilometres to find your pace per kilometre. To compute the pace per mile, the kilometre distance is first converted to miles using the internationally recognised factor of 0.621371 km per mile, and the same second total is divided by that number. Average speed in km/h is calculated by dividing the kilometre distance by the time expressed in hours (minutes divided by 60). All pace outputs are formatted in MM:SS to match the standard display on running watches and race timing systems. For runs over one hour, simply convert your total time to minutes — a 1:45:00 run is 105 minutes.
